Most Hungarians Support Paks Upgrade
Most Hungarians support the upgrade of the Paks nuclear power plant and think it will cement economic ties between Russia and Hungary, according to a survey by pollster Nézőpont. It found 89% of the people surveyed knew about the intergovernmental agreement.

About 52% said the upgrade was necessary, while 25% were against it and 23% did not know or declined to answer. About 55% of those surveyed said the Paks upgrade could strengthen economic ties between Hungary and Russia.

Russia’s Rosatom will build two blocks at the Paks plant under an agreement signed early in January. Eighty percent of the project’s cost will be financed with a 10 billion euro credit line from Russia.
