Hungarian Policeman Detained For Armed Robbery
A Budapest police sergeant has been arrested on suspicion of committing armed robbery with a civilian associate. The police sergeant is suspected of taking Ft 3,500 from a woman at gunpoint last weekend, Budapest Prosecutor Tibor Ibolya said on Tuesday. The sergeant and his associate appeared at a 16th District house early Sunday morning and, feigning official proceedings, ordered the woman to open the door.

The assailants, wearing hoods, kicked in the front door, pointed a gas alert pistol at the woman, told her to lie on the floor and then handcuffed her.

As the woman would not give them any cash or jewels, the two thieves took Ft 3,500 from her handbag and left her handcuffed.

The sergeant was subsequently captured, but his civilian associate is still at large.
