Light Of The East 2016, St Stephen's Basilica, 1 May
Saint Ephraim Male Choir and their guests are inviting all their friends to enter the refreshing and enchanting realm of Byzantine music in an exceptionally beautiful venue, the St Stephen's Basilica in Budapest. This is going to be the fifth season of the series which has grown to be an integrate part of our lives. Saint Ephraim Male Choir is eager to discover lesser-known territories of the vast domain of Eastern Christian music and to deliver these gems to the audience.

We are honoured to welcome young guests at the Easter Concert on 1 May 2016: the three ensembles of Lautitia Choir Family who are the highlights of the Saint Ephraim Greek Catholic Elementary School in Debrecen.

Their artistic director, József Nemes has guided the youngsters into the elite of Hungarian youth choirs in the previous years and beyond: they are the standard victors or podium finishers of prestigious international choir competitions.

They have already demonstrated their clean and sweet singing and outstanding musicianship at joint concerts with Saint Ephraim Male Choir throughout the country; and now the time has come for the two choirs to present their programme for the audience at St Stephen’s Basilica, Budapest. Lautitia Choir Family are the first youth choir to take part in the Orientale Lumen series.

The overwhelming sound of a united choir of 170 members will fill the church at the end of the concert, after the performance of the individual choirs: Lautitia Childern’s Choir, Lautitia Mixed Youth Choir, Lautitia Chamber Choir and, of course, Saint Ephraim Male Choir.

Concert starts at 8 p.m.
