Opposition Calls To End Gov't Contracts With Kaspersky Lab

The opposition Democratic Coalition is calling on the government and parliament to cancel contracts signed with Russian IT company Kaspersky Lab, the party’s deputy leader said.

The virus scanners of the Moscow-based company are currently installed on laptops used by MPs and government employees, Ágnes Vadai told a press conference.

The US government banned the use of Kaspersky Lab products in government offices back in September last year over spying fears.

In line with Russian law, Kaspersky Lab supports the work of the Russian security services, Vadai said, adding that Russia posed a “real cyber security threat” to the EU and NATO. She noted that MPs do not have the authority to delete software on computers received from parliament.
