The rate was well over the 45% target set by the EU’s battery directive. Eight member states did not reach the target and five did not report a collection rate, Eurostat said.
The highest reported rate was 71%, in Belgium. The lowest rate, of 21%, was in Romania. The rate was 52% in the Czech Republic, 39% in Poland and 48% in Slovakia. In Austria, the rate was 49%.
