New Lottery in Hungary Provides Penthouse Prize

Between August 28 and March 3, 2024, Szerencsejáték is launching a unique promotion in partnership with OTP bank, where a lottery winner can win a Ft 110 million penthouse apartment in Kőbánya, Budapest’s Tenth District.

All relevant taxes will be paid, allowing the owner to take possession of the property completely free of charge.

The national lottery company is reviving the home lottery after 50 years and making it available to members of its “Játékoskártya” loyalty programme.

The popularity of the service is demonstrated by the fact that one million players have already applied for the necessary card, said Szerencsejáték CEO Andrea Mager.

The shared history of Szerencsejáték and OTP Bank goes back to 1950, when OTP operated the Sports Betting and Lottery Directorate. In 1991 this entity was established as an independent shareholding company under the name Szerencsejáték.

From 1957 to the middle of the 1970s, a total of 505 apartments, 224 family houses and holiday homes were awarded to players of the home lottery, who had bought tickets for little more than Ft 3.
