More Companies Plan Hires than Layoffs in Hungary
Less than a third of Hungarian employers, 31%, plan new hires in the second quarter, while 22% plan to reduce headcount, according to a survey by recruitment company Manpower covering 525 employers.

By region, employment outlooks were favourable in Budapest, Central and Northern Hungary, and the Southern Great Plain.

The only region where more companies plan to reduce staff than expand the workforce is Central Transdanubia.

Demand for staff is the highest in communication services and IT.

The winning strategy for companies, according to Manpower CEO Tamás Fehér, is to retain the workforce while gradually filling vacant positions, as the labour market remains tight, and could become tighter during an economic recovery.
