The Critical Mass procession of September 22 will be cancelled, János László, president of the Hungarian Cyclists Club, announced on Wednesday. He said progress has begun in Budapest and many people now cycle in the capital, so what they wanted has been achieved. Thus it is no longer necessary for people to take to the streets and disrupt traffic.

A team of 40 police officers started a bicycle patrol operation in the capital as of yesterday. Allegedly police have been told people on bikes do sometimes have a 'strong drink' or two, but unless they look unstable peddlers shouldn’t be fined - however caution is strongly advised in that regard.
