Is Hungarian Parliament Being Biased With New Media Tribunal?
"The Hungarian Parliamentary committee responsible for nominating delegates for a new Media Tribunal (to oversee Hungary’s media business) has allegedly become biased and is only filling suggestions to appoint members of the Ruling Hungarian centre-right party, FIDESZ (i.e: its own party soldiers).

Reportedly the new tribunal will have no opposition party members in an attempt to dominate the media. Reports said that the new tribunal is expected to see chairperson Annamaria Szalai (appointed by Prime Minsiter Viktor Orban) securing her place in concrete for the next “nine” years. Another four (FIDESZ cronies) are due to be voted in by parliament, where FIDESZ has a two-thirds majority.

Media analysts said that rules require that parliament select nominees (in this case from three opposition parties) for two posts on the committee for the tribunal. Since the last elections the small Hungarian opposition is composed of the Socialist Party (MSzP), the nationalist Jobbik Party and the hardly existing green party LMP. "
