Police Probe Blast In Érd, Hungary
Hydrogen sulphide coming into contact with sewage and poured into the gutter could have caused a sewer system explosion in Érd, Pest county on Saturday, sources report.

Pest county police have ordered a probe against an unidentified perpetrator, county police spokeswoman Viktória Kovács said on Sunday. Nobody was injured in the blast but 100 people were temporarily evacuated from their homes.

Residents could return home after midnight, once the substance in the sewage system was neutralised with lye and the sewers were washed through.

If the explosion was carried out with intention, it carries a sentence of up to eight years in prison. Negligent public endangering carries a sentence of up to three years.
