Bill To Ban Private Weather Forecasts In Hungary
A new bill is being drafted that will give the state a monopoly on weather forecasts, Regional Development Ministry state secretary Zoltán Illés told Kossuth Rádió. The bill stipulates that collecting meteorological data is a state task, financed by the state, and it does not support the idea that private companies may provide weather analyses.

Weather forecasts should not be exposed to market conditions, Illés said.

He stressed that weather forecasting requires huge amounts of technical equipment, computer capacity and satellite systems, adding that accurate information is a huge asset.
