Casinos Amendment Rushed Through In Hungary

Parliament is expected to vote today in an exceptionally fast-track procedure on an amendment submitted by the governing parties on Sunday, which would restrict the number of casinos. The bill will make it possible for the Economy Minister to award concession rights for ten planned new casinos to two companies without tendering.
The motion allows a total of 11 casinos in Hungary, five in Budapest and Pest county, three in Transdanubia and three in eastern Hungary.
