Hungary's MTelekom Soars On Buyout Rumour
Magyar Telekom shares gained 6% yesterday on speculation that parent company Deutsche Telekom would offer to buy all outstanding shares.

It was announced earlier on Monday that Deutsche Telekom had reached agreement to purchase the 40% of its Czech subsidiary that it did not already own for €800 million.

The rumour is not new and it would make sense for Deutsche Telekom to by out minority shareholders in its Hungarian unit, observed analyst Róbert Harcsa of Ipopema.

Deutsche Telekom has 59.2% of Magyar Telekom shares, and the value of the free floating 40.8% is Ft 130 billion, half the price paid for full ownership of the Czech subsidiary, Magyar Hírlap adds.
