Áder Hails New Political Era In Hungary
Hungary has entered a new era in which the political arguments of the past have been closed, President János Áder asserted in a speech on Tuesday as he opened the inaugural session of Parliament.

He said the Hungarian nation considers the process of the change of regime completed with last month’s elections, and that voters formulated the clear message that they view the sterile political debates of the past closed.

It is not worth disputing whether Hungary is a republic, as the new Basic Law clearly states that it is, nor is it worth arguing about whether the new constitution upholds the rule of law, as voters clearly took a stand at a democratic election, he added.

Áder said April 6 saw the seventh free election after the change of regime, but also the first, as ethnic Hungarians in other countries had a chance to vote for the first time, and representatives of national minorities were given seats in Parliament.
