Under legislation approved in July, Hungarian lenders must compensate clients for unilateral changes to contracts unless they can successfully defend the practice in court.

At the hearing today, K&H argued that the law mandating the refunds went against the constitution on a number of points, violating the right to fair legal process and the prohibition on legislating retroactively.

The court postponed issuing a verdict in the case until Sept. 9.
