Old Bank Notes Invalid After Today
Today is the last day on which shops and other businesses must accept the old Ft 2,000 and Ft 5,000 notes. From August 1, these old notes will no longer be legal tender.

They can be exchanged for new ones in banks and post offices until July 31, 2020.

The MNB will continue to exchange the old notes until July 31, 2037.

The law regulates the compulsory acceptance of the notes but does not say anything about voluntary acceptance, which is still possible after today, Napi underlines.
