Video: Hungary Is 'Europe's Automotive Citadel'
Hungary has become an automotive citadel in Europe over recent years, says HIPA. With five OME's (+ the Jaguar Land Rover technical engineering centre) and more than 700 suppliers on board, the Hungarian automotive industry is creating interest from all over the world.

The fact that all the three German premium car manufacturers – Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW – are present in the same country is not only unprecedented in Europe, but also unrivalled worldwide.

The Audi plant in Győr, the largest engine manufacturing unit in the world, is now heading for a global leading position in the field of electric drive systems, too.

The series production of e-motors for the first purely electric Audi, the e-tron has launched in 2018.

Mercedes-Benz has just laid the cornerstone of the EUR 1 billion second plant in Kecskemét that will be the first “full-flex” Mercedes-Benz plant being able to manufacture models of various vehicle architecture and drivetrain in a flexible, fully digitised, paper-free production arrangement.

The BMW Group chose Debrecen in summer 2018 to expand its manufacturing network in Europe.

The EUR 1 billion benchmark plant will be able to produce premium cars with traditional as well as with electronic drivetrain on the same production line.
