’Zúzmara’ Running Race, Hungexpo Budapest, 13 January
Zúzmara is a half-marathon with additional shorter distances throughout the day. It is going to be held on 13 January at Hungexpo.

The race is organised by the BSI group and if you would like to sign up, you will need to go to the BSI Futanet website and stay in Hungarian as the number of races offered by BSI on the English pages is much reduced.

The race takes place at the Hungexpo site and runners compete on a flat course in, around and outside the exhibition site and on a horse-racing track! For the half-marathon there are two loops with an extension on the road after the first loop. The terrain greatly depends on the weather, one would probably be best in light trail shoes as both mud and snow are likely; with that said, standard road shoes would be fine, and better than more 'luggy' trail runners.

There is something special about the atmosphere at this race. The start in the building offers comfort (and coffee!) for those supporting the runners, whilst anyone taking part seems to get wrapped up in the mild absurdity of racing in such conditions.

Although there are races which are more extreme, for a mass participation event in the centre of a capital city, this all feels challenging and fun.
