Until 1 January. On the 22nd November the Advent Feast opens their gates on the St Stephan’s square for the ninth time, it is the second most spectacular Christmas market in Europe.

Come and experience the festive feeling once more. Enjoy the scent of gingerbread and mulled wine, the laugh of children and the harsh but kind tone of the skates! Be a child again.

See how the 3D lights and shadows play on the building of the Basilica, telling new stories every day. Surprise your beloved ones with the masterpieces of the arts and crafts on offer.
 

Skating

In the middle of the market, there is an oval skating-rink where everybody once again experiences their childhood, whlie gliding over the ice, lovers clutch each other’s hands tightly and parents watch their children’s first endeavor on ice with sparkling eyes.

Much like the rest of the feast, there are many smiling faces taking in the pleasure of the rink. Freinds and family, in their festive moods, sip hot mulled wine next to the rink as the watch the happy skaters, the christmas lights and the view of the Basilica.

It is free to use under the age of 14 and if the skates are accidently left at home, you can borrow some for free. If the tiny ones are insecure on the ice, they can take part in training every weekend.

Skating training for children:

  • every Saturday and Sunday 2PM-6PM

The Largest 3D Light Paintings In Central Europe

Are you amused by the monumentality of the Basilica’s building its perfectly chiselled windows? Do you know what is more amusing? When colourful lights appear on it, telling different festive and religious stories.

The 3D animated movies and scenes projected on the front of the building have been meet with huge success for years and made for your enjoyment with the most care by the artists using the playful, peculiar and breathtaking advantages of the building.

In 2018, the visitors have the opportunity for the 8th time to be a part of the largest and the most beautiful visual experience in Budapest every day between 4.30 and 10 p.m.

Each scene is a few minutes long  and starts at the top of every half hour, telling various tales which can be seen from all points of the square.
