Dobos torte, Gerbeaud slice, Esterházy cake... These classic cakes are an important part of the culinary traditions of Hungary, and it's not extraordinary to find a confectioneries in the capital which can boast with a century-old history, or family businesses where several generations continue traditions.
Veranda Confectionary's ‘golden apple’ cake has been named the Dessert of Budapest of 2022. The gianduja-apple confection, placed on a linen sheet, was tasted for the first time at the recent 'Sweet Days Budapest' chocolate and sweets festival.
A selection of international and local hand-crafted confections, chocolates, cakes, ice creams and other sweet seductions tempt your taste buds between 30 September - 2 October.
‘Plum Naughty Prince’ (Huncut szilva herceg) , the work of pastry chef Orsolya Karikó won the title of Hungary's cake this year, while László Gyuris' cake, Grandma's Favorite, won the title of Hungary's sugar-free cake.
