Hungarian Vaccine Scientist Karikó Honoured Again
Scientific researcher Katalin Karikó, who was presented last week with the Breakthrough Prize – known as the Oscar of Silicon Valley – received the medical science prize of Keio University in Tokyo on 15 September.

She was honoured for discovering the specific RNS modification leading to the development of mRNS vaccines, according to the university’s announcement.

A panel of 90 Japanese scholars decide on who should be awarded the Keio Medical Science Prize, after collecting nominations from around the world.

The recipients of the prize receive 10 million yen and a medal.
