The European Commission announced on Friday that a decision had been made to refer Hungary to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) regarding rules introducing fixed prices for building materials, hefty penalty payments for non-respect of these fixed prices, and production obligations for building materials and raw materials for the construction sector.
Output of Hungary’s construction sector rose by an annual 7.0% in November, after falling by 2.5% in the previous month, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said.
Hungary’s construction industry is set to expand by 4.5% this year before slowing in 2023 and 2024, Márton Nagy, the minister of economic development, told a conference organised by national construction industry association EVOSZ.
Output of Hungary’s construction sector fell by an annual 8.1% in June, contracting for the first time in more than a year, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said.
