Opposition Slams PM Orbán’s Putin Visit
The opposition parties declared that Viktor Orban’s negotiations in Moscow prove that the prime minister is learning how to build a dictatorship from Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

His challenger Peter Marki-Zay said Orban has failed in Europe. In a video uploaded to Facebook, he said “Viktor Orban has become Putin’s puppet.

This is understandable in light of the fact that during 12 years he accumulated tremendous stolen assets, through his family and front men, but he can only keep them if Hungary does not follow EU norms. He might even get us to leave the EU.”

A correct relationship should be fostered with Russia, but this does not mean the unconditional serving of Russian interests, Democratic Coalition MEP Klara Dobrev said on ATV.

“It is not right that when Russia acts as an aggressor in Ukraine, the Hungarian foreign minister or the entire foreign ministry staff keep quiet or applaud enthusiastically”, she remarked.

“Viktor Orban is taking lessons from Vladimir Putin about how to build an Eastern dictatorship,” Socialist Party co-president Bertalan Toth told a press conference.

“We do not want to live in an Eastern dictatorship, we want to live in a western democracy.”
