EU Agrees to Unlock Hungary Funds, Confirms PM Press Chief
A total of 300 million euros in European Union funding will soon be made available to Hungary, the PM’s press chief said in Brussels.

The Hungarian prime minister informed European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in a letter on Tuesday about the government’s request for the immediate provision of its allocation of the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility.

After receiving the letter, the EC has agreed that Hungary should receive an advance payment of the amount from one of the EU’s recovery funds, Bertalan Havasi said in a statement.

“Left-wing lies have clearly been shown as such by the fact that Viktor Orbán’s initiative has mobilised the EU’s machinery within less than a week, and the EC has proposed an amendment of the REACT-EU decree,” Havasi said, adding that this would allow Hungary unconditional access to 300 million euros in EU funding within a couple of weeks.
