Hungarian Opinion: Gyurcsány Calls PM Orbán a Dwarf
A liberal critic excoriates the former Prime Minister and DK Chairman for using Mr Orbán’s physical stature to attack him politically.

Reacting to PM Orbán’s remark whereby the European Union is an ‘energy dwarf’ as compared to Russia, DK leader Ferenc Gyurcsány described the Prime Minister as a dwarf – ‘historically and otherwise’.

In a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday, the founding leader of the Democratic Coalition also accused Mr Orbán of ‘finding excuses for the assassin’ – reference to Vladimir Putin.

Reflecting on Mr Gyurcsány’s post on his own FB page, Fidesz Parliamentary Floor Leader Máté Kocsis called Mr Gyurcsány a liar and a scoundrel who tries to iron out his misdeeds by committing even graver ones.

On Telex, Balázs Bozzay asks why the Democratic Coalition officially defines itself as ‘the most European party’ in Hungary, when its leaders have no respect for the right of every person to dignity,  as explicitly guaranteed in the founding Treaty of the European Union. He also suspects ‘such leaders’ of expecting their adversaries to adhere to such principles – without doing so themselves.
