Following a telephone outage between 4 and 5 April 2013 when the British Embassy was unable to receive telephone calls, we are pleased to announce that this technical issue has now been resolved. Our telephone services are now fully functional, and a full service has been resumed.

"Staying in Hungary is completely safe, experts reassure travellers to Budapest. The rupture of the red sludge reservoir in Hungary has caused a localised emergency situation afflicting three villages 160 km from the capital, Budapest. The dam burst poses no threat at all to anyone planning to travel to Budapest or stay elsewhere in Hungary.

"On August 26, Ambassador Kounalakis and USAID Regional Director David Leong participated in a press conference organized by the Hungarian Red Cross. The conference was held to highlight the $50,000 USAID grant that was provided to the Hungarian Red Cross for emergency flood relief this spring and early summer.
