A Roma pride march demanding equal opportunities was held in central Budapest on Saturday. Speakers at the Roma pride day, held for the fourth time, talked about the importance of joining forces. Activist and main organiser Jenő Setét said everybody must accept that “Roma lives matter, too”.

Most national minority representatives have reported an overall favourable situation in Hungary but there are several issues that need to be resolved, such as systemic discrimination and inequality in all fields of life suffered by the Roma, the Council of Europe (CoE) advisory committee on the framework convention for the protection of national minorities said in its latest report.

From April to May 2016, the Embassy of Canada in Budapest was home to a moving student-made art exhibit that creatively communicated the importance of human rights and the value of diversity. The exhibit, consisting of 10 art pieces and 3D installations, was the collective output of over 200 students, who participated in a project to promote tolerance and inclusion through media and education.
