The biggest equestrian festival in Hungary is arranged every year in Budapest at the majestic Heroes Square. The first National Gallop was held in 2008, and since then became a very popular event filled with Hungarian culture, featuring action filled horse races.

The festival classifies itself as an underground event, probably because of its location. The courtyard of the Dreher Breweries in Budapest Kőbánya district became a festival center once again from 26th -28th August. Rembrandt and the Painting of the Dutch Golden Age, a large-scale exhibition to run in the Museum of Fine Arts from 1 November surveys the period of 17th-century Dutch art, one of the golden ages of European culture. The exhibition is built around Rembrandt, the greatest master of the period, by whom 20 masterpieces will be on display.

On 20- 21 September the Andrássy Avenue, the city’s grandest boulevard, will become the Gallop Promenade, presenting over 1,000 years of Hungarian history. Tents representing towns and cities across the nation will show off local traditions – imagine blacksmiths pounding horseshoes, costumed women embroidering centuries-old flower motifs, weavers crafting baskets of straw or rugs of wool.
