Fish Consumption In Hungary Increases By 20 Percent

As a result of the Ministry of Rural Development's promotion campaign launched at the end of last year, fish consumption is the only area within the food sector that has seen a marked, 20 percent increase in Hungary this year, Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas declared at the opening of this year's fish marketing drive in Tiszafüred on Monday.

Pure, healthy and high quality food is a strategic issue for Hungary, Gyula Budai declared in the Szabolcs-Szatmár Bereg County town of Apagy, in North-East Hungary. The Ministry of Rural Development's Parliamentary State Secretary was speaking at the first stop in the Roadshow organised to promote GMO-free agriculture.

The Goulash Festival started in 1999 in Szolnok which is the capital of goulash. At the beginning there were 150 cauldron which increased to 500–600 cauldron in these days. The number of the contestants and visitors stabilized between 40 and 45.000. The aim of the organizers is to save Hungarian Goulash and introduce it in domestic and foreign markets.
