Hungary’s first Jewish Cultural Days festival is set to take place from May 28 to June 14, in Budapest and other large towns such as Sopron, Debrecen and Zalaegerszeg. In response to complaints by producers of the Hungarian Holocaust drama Son of Saul, the German weekly Jüdische Allgemeine has corrected its interview with director László Nemes Jeles. The corrected version differs in its title and almost in its entire content from the original one which attributed fabricated answers to the director and provoked sharp criticism.

The US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has nominated Hungarian director László Nemes Jeles’s film Son of Saul for an Academy Award in the best foreignlanguage film category. Son of Saul was recently awarded a Golden Globe, following several international awards including the Grand Prix at the 68th Cannes Film Festival last year.
