From Müpa: We regret to inform you that, pursuant to the decision made by the Hungarian government with respect to the situation surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, all of Müpa Budapest's performances have been cancelled from 11 November until 10 December 2020, and the building will remain closed throughout this period.

This première by the Ballet Company of Győr will be an adaptation for dance theatre of Anna Karenina, one of the most famous romances in literary history, staged by Seregi Award- and Harangozó Award-winning choreographer László Velekei.

Although the latter tried to avoid being compared to the former, both the 19th century and posterity drew a parallel between these two serious German bachelors, pianist-composers who thought in monumental terms. Tonight will serve as another opportunity to hear works of theirs together.

Every year since 2008, the Budapest Festival Orchestra and Müpa Budapest have put on an all-day marathon production presenting the very best work of a given composer, with a series of consecutive concerts from morning until late evening in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall and the Festival Theatre.
