It has been exactly 130 years since the Budapest Opera opened its gates on 27 September, 1884. The Hungarian State Opera commemorates the anniversary of the opening with crowds in period costumes, an extraordinary gala concert, the premier of a film, and the publication of a historical book.

The 22nd VOLT music festival opened its gates to thousands of ticket-holders near Sopron on Tuesday afternoon. The most important new feature is that it will run one day longer this year, as there will be a concert by British group Arctic Monkeys on Sunday.

The amount of music sold digitally shot up 50% last year to nearly Ft 500 million, according to the association of music publishers Mahasz. Revenues on music streaming services have doubled. Sales of physical CD’s, DVD’s and other video products, however, continued to fall, dropping 25% last year.
