The community of The British International School Budapest came together to celebrate the graduation of its Class of 2017 last Saturday at the Intercontinental Budapest. The event was attended by over 250 students, parents, teachers and guests, including Dr Michael Ignatieff PC CM, President and Rector of CEU, and Her Britannic Majesty’s Ambassador Iain Lindsay OBE (pictured below).

Representatives of Budapest’s National Public Service University (NKE) visited and held talks at four American universities earlier this month, NKE Rector András Patyi, who led the delegation, told MTI. The delegation visited Indiana University, the University of North Georgia (UNG), Virginia’s Marymount University and George Washington University in Washington, DC between May 10 and 21.

The Central European University (CEU) has refuted remarks that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán made at Wednesday’s European Parliament plenary session. CEU said in a statement that Orbán had claimed, referring to a letter written by CEU President-Rector Michael Ignatieff to the students and teachers, that Ignatieff is not worried that CEU, operating in Budapest, may be closed down.

It is more likely than previously that the CEU will relocate from Hungary, deputy rector Zsolt Enyedi told RTL Klub television on Wednesday. “If the question is whether in its present form with these projects, departments and all these research projects CEU can remain in Budapest, I see less than a 50% chance,” Enyedi remarked.
