Waiting times in Hungary’s healthcare system are among the shortest in Europe, state secretary for health Zoltán Ónodi-Szűcs insisted. Hungarian health care “hardly has waiting lists anymore”. He noted, however, that there is a specific set of surgery types for which the use of waiting lists is mandatory, even if a patient only has to wait one day for surgery.
Hungarian Schools Struggle To Provide Certified Drug Prevention Programs

Successful drug prevention is more than just a police officer in front of a blackboard talking about the harms of the different drugs. Only long-term programs can be successful but they are expensive and the schools have no money. Civil organisations would do it for free but they hardly get any state support.
National Conference On Improving Access To Opioid Medicines In Hungary

An international conference was organised in Budapest on the use of opioid medicines for curative purposes. The aim of the ATOME (Access to Opioid Medication in Europe) Project is to improve access by patients to opioid medication in those 12 countries of Central and Eastern Europe, where the per capita consumption of morphine is very low, as shown by statistical evidence.
New WHO Report Reveals Unequal Improvements In Health In Europe

While the overall level of health across the WHO European Region has clearly improved, European health statistics show inequities within and between countries, according to the European health report 2012. The report is the flagship publication of the WHO Regional Office for Europe, issued every three years.
