I’ve been away from Budapest for the last two weeks. For the first time I went back to London to the annual gathering of all British Ambassadors from around the world. It was my first time there and so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But the week was really good.

The rupture of the red sludge reservoir in Hungary has caused a localised emergency situation afflicting three villages 160 km from the capital, Budapest. The dam burst poses no threat at all to anyone planning to travel to Budapest or stay elsewhere in Hungary.

Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt (who played Achilles in the Hollywood bock-buster Troy, and his twins have allegedly joined Angelina Jolie Voight and their other children in Budapest, reports said. The Troy star had reportedly flown all the way from the walking city to the Hungarian capital in their private jet.

Just like other expat kids in Hungary, on Monday morning this week Shiloh, Pax and Maddox all attended class in Budapest. Unlike most expat children though the Jolie-Pitt kids had former-SAS bodyguards, as well as police and paparazzi, around them at the start of school.
