Police have launched a legal procedure against a shop assistant in central Budapest who used a homemade card reader to steal bank-card data as customers were paying for their purchases, the Budapest police force said. The 24-year-old man then used the data to make online purchases on 18 occasions in February and March this year, the BRFK said on its website.

The cabinet has decided to extend the ban on Sunday retail activity, to take effect on 15 March, to world heritage sites, government spokesman András Giró-Szász has said.
